MP tours Ideal Heating’s new UK technology centre ahead of opening
Ideal Heating has welcomed Hull MP Dame Diana Johnson for a tour of its new £19.2 million UK Technology Centre (UKTC), as the state-of-the-art facility nears completion at the company’s headquarters in Hull.
The purpose-built centre will be home to more than 100 Ideal Heating specialists, including R&D engineers, product managers, and software developers, all focused on advancing low-carbon heating technologies. It features advanced testing environments such as climatic chambers, where heat pumps can be trialled under varying conditions, and anechoic chambers for acoustic testing.
“It’s fantastic to see such a significant investment being made right here in Hull. The UKTC is an impressive facility which reflects Ideal’s leading role in the heating industry,” said Dame Diana Johnson, MP for Hull North and Cottingham and Minister of State at the Department for Work and Pensions. “Ideal is one of Hull’s great business success stories, with a long and proud history of innovation and employment in the city. This R&D centre will not only safeguard jobs in Hull, it will create new opportunities and skills well into the future, and support the transition to clean energy.”
The UKTC forms part of Ideal’s £60 million investment programme in manufacturing, R&D, logistics, and training, as the company accelerates its move towards heat pumps and other low-carbon technologies.
