Join in with the trades playlist challenge for charity

Baxi and MENTalk have launched a charity playlist challenge to raise money for The OLLIE Foundation and help motivate tradespeople as they get back to a more normal working life.

The TradesTopTunes playlist challenge encourages gas engineers to share their favourite feel-good song and nominate three others to do the same. At the same time, they’re asked to donate £3 to The OLLIE Foundation, which helps deliver suicide awareness, intervention and prevention training in communities to support young people.

MENTalk chose The OLLIE Foundation because of the crucial work it does to promote good mental health for young people, and whose ambition is to create a society where no one feels that suicide is their only option.

All nominated tracks for the challenge will be added to a #TradesTopTunes playlist on Spotify to form the UK’s first official installer-curated playlist, designed specifically for tradespeople.

As well as doing good for a great cause, the playlist challenge has been designed by Baxi and MENTalk to help boost morale at a time of great uncertainty, with many tradespeople now heading back to their jobs.

The challenge is just one of many activities that are part of Baxi’s partnership with MENTalk, which encourages men to open up and support each other with mental health issues, as well as raising awareness of personal wellbeing and providing support for those working in the industry.

Steve Smith, one of the founding members of MENTalk, says: “Listening to music has been proven to be good for your mental health and can really lift your mood, so the playlist charity challenge is a great way to help bring people together online during a particularly challenging time.

“Aside from being a lot of fun, the #TradesTopTunes challenge will be raising money for The OLLIE Foundation so as well as connecting with the installer community: by taking part, you will also be doing your bit for a great cause. We can’t wait to hear all the feel-good songs that are helping installers stay motivated as they return to working life.”

Baxi social media manager Sarah Till says: “Whether it’s listening to your favourite tracks on the way to and from work in the van, or during a job, installers love music and so do we. We’re thrilled to be working with MENTalk to encourage installers to share their favourite back-to-work motivational songs, all while helping to raise as much money as possible for The OLLIE Foundation.”
