Housing business will fit CO alarms in thousands of homes

A North West housing business is kicking off Gas Safety Week 2017 with a bang – with a 10-month programme to fit CO alarms in all its 13,000+ properties.

The Regenda Group will be fitting Aico’s Ei208, allows engineers to quickly extract data from the unit via a smart phone application.

While landlords have been required to install both smoke and carbon monoxide alarms in certain properties since 2015, there has been no such legislation for providers of social housing. However, Regenda says it is putting customer safety first and rolling out the new installations across its Regenda Homes and Redwing Living properties.

Andrew Grice, compliance technical manager at Regenda Homes, says: “We are passionate about protecting our customers and reducing any risks to the lowest level possible.

“The CO alarm installation programme is a 10-month project and will be carried out by our in-house contractor, M&Y Maintenance and Construction, at the time of the gas service.”

Neal Hooper, managing director of Aico, says: “We are delighted to see Regenda taking the lead in protecting tenants from the potential dangers of a CO leak. Fitting a quality CO alarm offers another level of protection to tenants, keeping them safe in their homes.”

The Regenda Group has more than 13,000 properties in the North West available for social and affordable rent, shared ownership and outright sale.
