HHIC backs Gas Safety Week 2026 and urges households to ‘Take No Chances’

The Heating and Hotwater Industry Council (HHIC) is urging households across the UK to take gas safety seriously and never ignore potential warning signs.

Its support for this year’s Gas Safety Week theme, ‘Take No Chances’, is a timely reminder that small, simple actions can make a significant difference when it comes to gas safety.

HHIC is joining organisations, businesses, community groups and gas engineers across the UK in sharing practical advice to help protect households from the risks associated with unsafe gas work and appliances.

Its director Stewart Clements said: “While today’s gas appliances are very safe, gas safety should never be taken for granted. The Take No Chances message is a particularly important one because ignoring a concern, delaying a service or using someone who is not appropriately qualified can have serious consequences.

“As an industry, we have a responsibility to make sure consumers understand the simple steps they can take to protect themselves and their families. Using a Gas Safe registered engineer, arranging a regular service and knowing the warning signs of an unsafe appliance can all help keep people safe.

“We are pleased to support Gas Safety Week and will be sharing practical gas safety advice throughout the week. Our message is simple: if something doesn’t feel right, don’t ignore it: take action.”

Gas Safety Week takes place throughout the week of 14–20 September 2026.
