CO Research Trust relaunches Chris Bielby studentship
The CO Research Trust has relaunched the Christopher Bielby Summer Studentship for 2026 following a successful first year.
Created in memory of former Trust Chair Christopher Bielby MBE, the scheme supports early-career researchers working on carbon monoxide (CO) safety. Funded jointly by the Trust and IGEM, it offers up to £1,500 for six- to eight-week research projects.
“Launching the Chris Bielby Summer Studentship in 2025 was a significant milestone for the CO Research Trust, and we are delighted with the response it received. The calibre of applications demonstrated both the strength of emerging talent in this field and the clear commitment among students to improving carbon monoxide safety.
Building on that success, we are excited to take the programme forward in 2026. Supporting early-stage researchers not only honours Chris’s legacy but also strengthens the future of CO research and prevention,” said Adrian McConnell, CEO, CO Research Trust.
Applications are open to undergraduates (between their 2nd and final year), recent graduates and applicants who have completed a relevant Master’s degree within the last 12 months, with shortlisted candidates invited to present their findings at the CO Research Conference 2026.
The deadline for applications is 5pm on Friday 1 May 2026. Click here for more details.
