Worcester Bosch celebrates first Cecil Duckworth apprentice graduate
Worcester Bosch has marked a major milestone this summer with the graduation of Matthew Dutson, the first-ever apprentice to complete the company’s Cecil Duckworth Apprenticeship Scheme.
Launched in 2021 in memory of Worcester Bosch founder, Cecil Duckworth, the four-year programme combines hands-on practical experience with classroom-based learning, leading to a Level 3 Engineering qualification. After completing the scheme, Matthew has accepted a permanent position at Worcester Bosch.
Reflecting on his journey, Matthew said: “I’m so proud to receive the first Cecil Duckworth Apprenticeship and have really enjoyed the programme, which has given me a great insight into engineering opportunities and processes at a world-class manufacturer”,
“We introduced the Cecil Duckworth Apprenticeship in Cecil’s memory as he was passionate about training for young people, and as he was as an engineer as well as having a fantastic business mind, we thought this would be a fitting tribute to him. This is also about us giving back to the local community by developing our own young talent from within the local Worcestershire area,” said Carl Arntzen, CEO at Worcester Bosch.
“I am so pleased that Matt has completed his apprenticeship and will start his career at Worcester Bosch. Cecil would have been so thrilled to have witnessed this milestone, as are all the family,” commented Beatrice Duckworth.
