Jack Barker takes apprentice trophy

Jack takes plumbing apprentice crown

Devon apprentice Jack Barker has scooped the title of National Apprentice Plumber of the Year, the annual competition organised by Heating Installers and Plumbers (HIP) UK.

Jack, from Petroc College, beat six other finalists at magnetic filters manufacturer Adey’s training and conference centre in Cheltenham. The apprentices were up against the clock to install a boiler rig, pipework, radiators and an Adey MagnaClean Professional2 magnetic filter.

The finalists, who won regional heats to compete for the national title, were judged by Adey chief executive Chris Adey, CIPHE national competition judge Tony Kite, and HIP managing editor and event organiser Celia Matthews.
