Homes to get more energy efficiency funding
The government is targeting domestic energy efficiency and says it will release a raft of funding worth £6 billion to make 1 million homes warmer and cut energy use and bills.
It’s part of a new approach to net-zero, it says, and provides money for energy efficiency measures including insulation and more grants for heat pumps.
An additional £1.5 billion is being put behind the Boiler Upgrade Scheme in England and Wales in 2025-2008. And an energy efficiency grant will launch in 2025, for households in England to make changes such as bigger radiators or better insulation, with funding of £400 million until 2028. More detail on how this will work will be announced later, says the government.
A new local authority retrofit scheme has been allocated £500 million to support up to 60,000 low-income and cold homes, including those off the gas grid, with measures such as insulation.
