Are you a local hero?

The SGS Engineering Local Hero Awards is on the lookout for the next tradesperson to be named a local hero, with a cash prize of £1,000 for the winner. There are also five regional prizes of £250 available.

The Local Hero Awards aims to shine a light on the plumbers, builders, mechanics, electricians, joiners, gardeners, and other tradespeople, who put others first with their kindness. Organiser SGS Engineering is looking for people who are helping to make the world a better place.

Last year’s winner, James Anderson of DEPHER, has made national headlines for his work carrying out plumbing and heating work free of charge for vulnerable people. The first winner, Graham Nash of Pinnacle Builders, fixed the errors made by cowboy builders and also carried out the work free of charge.

Dave Gordon, General Manager at SGS Engineering, said: “We heard about so many wonderful tradespeople during the first awards [and] we believe that these selfless people and their acts should be celebrated.”

Nominations can be made at www.sgs-engineering.com/help-advice/sgs-local-hero-awards-2023-is-open-for-entries.

Entries must be submitted by 11 April, 2023.

A poll will then be created so that the general public can vote for the national and regional winners, who will be crowned on 25 April 2023.
