Stelrad radiators: engineer-led innovation for low-temperature heating

As the UK moves toward low-temperature and renewable heating, demand is increasing for emitters that offer higher outputs, larger surface areas and long service life while supporting decarbonisation. Despite a market dip in 2024, radiator demand is expected to grow over the next four years, driven by heat pump adoption, strong expansion in the designer and premium steel panel segment (+242% since 2015), and a shift toward sustainable materials and electric options. With more than 51% of the UK market, Stelrad Group plc is well placed to meet rising demand for higher-value, higher-performance products, across its five brands Stelrad, Henrad, Hudevad, Termotechnik and DL Radiators.

The business continues to work closely with new build, social housing and commercial specifiers to deliver cost-effective, high-output solutions for low-temperature systems, including K3 models, expanded vertical options and new 900mm, 200mm and 1200mm height variants. Average heat output per radiator has increased by 7% in the first half of the year. Although new to the electric radiator market, Stelrad has seen exceptional uptake since its 2023 UK and Ireland launch, with sales up 309% in the first half of 2025 versus the same period in 2024, with further strong growth expected into 2025/26.

Over the past year, Stelrad has introduced the Hudevad P5 horizontal and vertical range, available in K1, K2 and K3 horizontal formats and K2 vertical, featuring robust construction with a 2mm pressed-steel fascia.

The company has also strengthened its sustainability offering with the Green Compact Series, manufactured using ArcelorMittal XCarb steel to achieve a 66% reduction in embodied carbon, supported by an independently verified EPD.

Growing interest in electric heating – set to increase as electricity prices fall – continues to drive demand, with Stelrad’s electric portfolio outpacing projections. New hybrid emitters and additions such as 200mm-high K3 and K4 Compacts and the 1200mm Vertex further support engineers designing for low-temperature, space-restricted or mixed-system installations.
