Zero-emission microwave boiler seeks funding
BoilerWave is a microwave boiler that could play a role in reducing dependence on gas appliances. Unlike fossil-fuel boilers, it uses microwave technology to heat water efficiently and safely without emitting any carbon dioxide, providing instantaneous, consistent heating, minimising energy waste and reducing energy consumption.
“Our goal with BoilerWave is to provide a practical, sustainable solution that not only meets the heating needs of today’s homeowners but also supports the UK’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions,” said Gary McCauley, CEO of Milton Keynes Electrical Group. “By replacing just one gas boiler with BoilerWave, a household can prevent 3.54 tonnes of CO2 from entering the atmosphere each year.”
The company is launching a campaign to raise £5 million to build cutting-edge production facilities in Milton Keynes, aiming to bring the technology to market.
The inspiration behind BoilerWave is as compelling as the product itself. Gary conceived the idea in the most unexpected circumstances. Following a life-changing vehicle crash in 2016 that left Gary with severe injuries, he found himself reflecting on his 25-year career in the electric boiler industry. During his recovery, the concept of using microwave technology to heat water in homes began to take shape.
“I was determined not to let my circumstances define me. Instead, I wanted to channel my experience and knowledge into something truly transformative,” he says.“The BoilerWave concept became my focus, and as soon as I was mobile again, I began working on the prototype.”
