Smart Gas open day for aspiring gas engineering apprentices

Taster day on 12th September in Derbyshire

Training provider Smart Gas will host an open day at its Ashbourne centre on Friday, 12 September, to attract newcomers to gas engineering – including recent GCSE and A-Level leavers – and support employers looking to upskill their workforce.

Visitors will be able to tour Smart Gas’ newly refurbished training facility, take part in practical challenges and hear from the team about apprenticeship routes, including the Level 3 Gas Engineering Apprenticeship. Employers can also explore tailored funding options and meet motivated learners looking for opportunities.

“The skills shortage is particularly acute in heating and plumbing, with an ageing workforce and the increasing prevalence of heat pumps. Apprenticeships will play a vital role in boosting numbers. This open day will give people a taste of the industry in a relaxed, pressure-free environment,” said Gregg Scott, CEO of Smart Gas.

Registration is required by via Evenbrite. The event takes place at Moor Farm Road, Units 3-5 Runway Business Park, Ashbourne DE6 1HD between 10am and 2pm, with a free lunch included.

Anyone who registers and attends the open day will be entered in a draw to win a Milwaukee drill worth £299.99.
