Gas Service & Maintenance Engineers

Leicester City Council are seeking multi-talented gas service and heating engineers to provide an efficient and effective maintenance service to the council’s properties and other buildings. By undertaking assessments of repairs and maintenance, you will work with colleagues and customers in highlighting health and safety issues, customer care standards and essential works.

By visiting homes and other locations throughout Leicester City, you will undertake the provision of emergency service repairs, carry out servicing and maintenance on gas appliances and deal with residents regularly, including vulnerable people.

You’ll be working full time Monday-Friday, 37 hours per week.

What you’ll be doing
You will undertake domestic landlord gas safety checks, heating and hot water repairs, smoke detection equipment maintenance and undertake assessments of repairs and maintenance work required. By actively managing the stock of parts and equipment on vehicles, you will also ensure the best route of efficiency for the completion of work.

Working with colleagues, and others to resolve or notify issues, ie, repairs, rechargeable items, safeguarding etc, you will determine and arrange appropriate and value for money resources required to complete repairs and maintenance and remove any waste. In addition, you will also aid in the supervision of apprentices and other assigned trainees, as well as managing your own workload to meet customer standards.

What you’ll need
Essentially, you will have significant experience and working knowledge of domestic gas maintenance, including repair and fault finding works and exposure gained within a gas installation/maintenance environment.

With a high level of communication and listening skills, you will be able to deal with customers face to face and on the telephone, as well as be willing to carry out work in challenging conditions. Being organised, you will also be able to work under pressure and prioritise tasks to meet agreed timescales and targets.
