Ford Transit 350 named UK’s most stolen van in new study
A new analysis of DVLA data, by Tempcover, experts in temporary van insurance, shows that a van was stolen every 52 minutes in the UK in 2025, with Ford models dominating the theft tables across 2024 and 2025.
More than 11,700 Ford vans were stolen over the two-year period, accounting for 53% of all van thefts, and almost four times as many as Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, the second most targeted make with 2,935 thefts.
The Ford Transit 350 emerged as the UK’s most stolen van model, with over 1,300 thefts recorded in 2024 and 2025. Despite this, researchers note that Ford’s prominence in the statistics reflects its strong market share, with 31,936 new Ford vans registered in 2025, giving the brand a 38% share of new van registrations and a high level of exposure on UK roads.
Across the wider market, van theft fell by 16% during the same period, however, high-demand commercial models, especially those relied on daily by tradespeople, remain a key target, according to new analysis by Tempcover.
White vans are most at risk, with 16,121 white vans stolen over the two years, accounting for 73% of all van thefts, more than seven times the number of silver vans (2,140) and far ahead of grey (1,286), blue (920) and black (818). While white is the most common van colour and represents over half of the UK vans, its 73% share of thefts indicates white vans are being targeted disproportionately to their market presence.
