City Plumbing to refund ‘boiler tax’
If you bought a boiler from one of the major brands between 1 January and 21 March 2024, you may be able to get a refund on the cost that was added on due to the Clean Heat Market Mechanism.
City Plumbing is working with the relevant boiler manufacturers to refund £95-£120 per appliance. This is the amount that was added in a so-called ‘boiler tax’ in response to the now-delayed Clean Heat Market Mechanism.
Customers who were affected will be contacted soon with details of the refund process, which will start from 2 April 2024.
Chief Commercial Officer Adam Foy says: “Keeping things fair and straightforward for our installers is fundamental to how we do business at City Plumbing, which is why we’ve been working closely with all the leading boiler manufacturers to create a process for refunds for the additional cost that was applied, and ensuring this process is quick and easy in order to give the best possible customer experience.”
Account customers will be notified with information about automatic refunds, and cash customers will be able to complete a simple process to claim the refund.
