Boiler sales bounce back as consumers renovate
Sales of domestic gas boilers have bounced back this year, according to new figures from the Heating and Hotwater Industry Council (HHIC).
Figures show 2021 sales to-date have increased by 41 per cent compared to the same period in 2020, with 670,000 units sold between January to April 2021. The 12-month average sales figure to April has increased by 14 per cent.
Stewart Clements, director of HHIC, says: “Consumers are once again investing in home renovation as they see the light at the end of the dark COVID tunnel. We expected this April to be better than last year, when sales fell off a cliff, but the whole year so far has seen a massive increase in sales.
“This is great news for the UK manufacturers who make the appliances, for the whole supply-chain that gets them ready for the home, and for the 130,000 Gas Safe-registered engineers who fit them. It is also good news for the consumer, who gets new high-efficiency products in their homes, helping to keep bills down.”
