Gas App UK is now free
One-stop-shop app Gas App UK is now free to download for Gas Safe registered engineers. The award-winning app offers access to more than 9,000 manufacturers’ instruction manuals, as well as digital forms such as gas inspection records, landlords’ gas safety records and warning notices. Managing director Ant Provan says: “We always wanted to be free and now we can give something back to gas engineers.”
You can add your logo and contact details to the bespoke quotation software and email quotes to customers while you’re on site. The toolbox section includes pipe sizing, gas rating, ventilation and purge calculators, video tutorials and details manufacturers’ quick-dial contact numbers, while the office section features a full mobile office tool to take the strain out of managing your business.
A PDF reference library covers servicing checklists, meter documents, gas rating, an ACS refresher and details of the Unsafe Situations Procedure.
It’s a community-based tool, too, Ant says: “Our 40,000 users have created a great community, and it’s a safe haven for gas engineers. It can be a lonely job, so you can use the app to talk about what you’re doing, where you are, and what you’ve seen in your daily travels. You’ll engage with people in discussions and forums. It’s a network of great content that keeps rolling out.”
The most popular section is fault-finding, he adds. “If you’ve got a problem with a fault, someone will invariably help you out in a few minutes. It’s also useful for more general discussions, such as finding the best liability insurance.”
Thanks to the support of headline sponsor Wolseley and Resideo, Ideal Boilers, Polypipe and Grundfos, registered gas engineers can download the app free with no trials or in-app purchases. Users must be Gas Safe registered and registration details are checked. “We do vet users’ details because we don’t want DIY-ers taking the front off their boiler and having a tinker,” says Ant.
